Dogs On Call Deliver Toys to Patients at VCU Health

February 9, 2016

Pediatrics patients treated in the ASK Clinic and Children's Hospital of Richmond were among the hundreds of patients to receive plush stuffed animals as part of a special visit with Dogs On Call therapy dogs.

Three pediatric patients hold PetSmart stuffed animals while a fourth child holds Dogs On Call therapy dog Stewie, a white maltese. They are all smiling.

Local Glen Allen Petsmart store #1051 donated $5,000.00 and over 500 stuffed cat and dog toys as part of the PetSmart Gives Back Charity initiative. PetSmart Store Manager Mr. Jeffery Pennise and PetSmart District Manager Mr. Kevin Loll accompanied the Dogs On Call volunteers to gift the cuddly toys, and met with appreciative parents and children.

The Dogs On Call program brings dedicated therapy dog handlers from the community to serve patients, staff and families at VCU and VCU Health.
